Wood Destroying Organisms FAQs

What are wood destroying organisms?

Wood destroying organisms (WDO) include termites, carpenter ants, wood-boring beetles, powderpost beetles, fungi, and carpenter bees. All of the WDOs can weaken wood structures within the home, usually in coil with soil and damp conditions, to weaken wood in structural features of the home.

How to treat WDOs in the home?

Each insect can live up to a year in normal, damp conditions and can produce up to 50 offspring per breeding cycle. Depending on the variety of WDO and the damage caused all ready, treatment will vary. Fumigation, thermal treatment, tropical borate treatment, and repair/replacement of damaged structures are all possible treatments.
